RITE OF CHRISTIAN
INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA) or Ordo Initiationis Christianae Adultorum
Program follows the guidelines of the Diocese of Orange
THE RCIA is a communal process for adults who are interested in the Roman Catholic faith and way of life. It involves a number of liturgical rites to prepare unbaptized individuals who seek full communion to enter the Catholic Church community. These adults will be prepared to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
A Companion on the Journey
Every catechumen or candidate must have a sponsor. Please be proactive in choosing your sponsor. This person will be someone, other than your parent, who support you in your Catholic journey. The sponsor must be a confirmed and practicing Catholic who is over the age of 18 and in good standing with the Catholic Church.
Who is RCIA for?
Are you an unbaptized person who wants to grow in awareness of God love and presence?
Are you a baptized infant in the Catholic Church, yet not given, lived, or made aware of the Christian life and traditions? Would you like to prepare to celebrate the sacraments of Penance, Confirmation, and Eucharist?
Are you a baptized person in another Christian church, who was catechized and/or uncatechized by a faith tradition other than Catholic, and is seeking full communion with the Roman Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?
